As many of you know, I will be competing this year in the 2019 "Dancing with the Stars of Mentoring"! My dance partner/instructor and I are currently in the process of finalizing and perfecting our dance performance. While I was focusing on my dance moves, I may have put the purpose of this event on the backburner.
Mentor RI is all about relationships, and their mission is to ensure youth have access to the motivational and supportive relationships they need to grow into confident, successful adults.
What many of you may NOT know, is that I was in fact a mentee as a child! I had so much energy and required a certain amount of attention that was difficult to obtain. Because of the mentoring program, I was able to gain lifelong relationships and I believe it has helped shape me into who I am today.
This program is very near and dear to my heart which is why I chose to personally raise 5K in donations. 100% of these donations will make it possible for today's youth to have mentors. These mentors graciously give an hour of their time weekly to help with homework, play sports, or even just sit down and listen.
If anyone may know any businesses who would generously donate or if anyone is looking to make a much appreciated donation themselves, please contact me and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
You may not be able to help me on the dance floor, when I perform in front of a crowd of more than 500 people, but you can help me take home the night's most coveted award.
The People's Choice award is given to the dancer with the most votes. And with $1=1 Vote, you are encouraged to vote early and often.
