My cover picture is a beautiful memory of my dad and I dancing at my wedding. He instilled in me the inspiration to care and to give, to be kind and to reach for the stars. Although he was a far better dancer than I am , I will put my best foot forward for mentoring, and hope my dad will be with me every step of the way. Yes, I've signed on to be a star at Dancing with the Stars of Mentoring 2023. Proceeds from the event go to help MENTOR Rhode Island expand opportunities for youth to connect with mentors.
You may not be able to help me on the dance floor, when I perform in front of a crowd of more than 500 people, but you can help me take home the night's most coveted award.
The People's Choice award is given to the dancer with the most votes. And with $1=1 Vote, you are encouraged to vote early and often. There are three awards for the dancers, the most important award, The People's Choice - is for the dancer who gets the most votes (and donations) to provide Mentor RI with funds to reach out to so many kids who could so greatly benefit from a mentor.
I have had personal mentors throughout my life (my mom and dad being the first) who have shaped the person that I am today - from youth to adulthood. Without them, their guidance and wisdom, I can’t imagine facing the challenges I’ve encountered in life. When I faced the biggest challenge and life-saving decisions that had to made in 2010 for my son, I turned to those mentors in my life not only for a shoulder to provide strength, but also for the guidance that they provided throughout the years. The trusted advice that they gave, brought us through some very dark times. Maybe we don’t really think about our blessings - until our eyes are opened. Everyone should have the opportunity to have a mentor to rely upon.
Just a small donation will go a long way to helping me meet my goal for MENTOR Rhode Island. A big donation will help even more. Don't be afraid to go big for a good cause. Please help us make this a huge (and fun) success. "“A mentor is someone who allows you to see the hope inside yourself.”
